About Darlene and Her Photography

There can be no more rewarding pursuit than photography. It is an opportunity to take what could be a fleeting glimpse of an adorable child, an interesting person, a lovely couple, a special event, an awesome flower, and preserve that image forever; nothing satisfies the creative urge more, and, at the same time, puts a smile on the faces of the people being served.

Darlene's specialty is photographing people in the natural light of beautiful outdoor settings; people seem to be more at ease in these casual settings, than in a studio. Also, Darlene enjoys being with people, and is good at making them feel comfortable.

Photography is something in which Darlene has been absorbed for approximately thirty-five years. After moving to San Diego in 1984 (now living in Encinitas), joining the North County Photographic Society, and associating with many excellent, serious photographers, she has become one of those ardent photographers herself.

Entry in various photography exhibits and juried shows helped to sharpen Darlene's skills, entering one or two exhibitions a year, and winning awards and honorable mentions along the way at various shows. Darlene has shown her work at the 101 Artist's Colony in Encinitas.

Darlene's fine art photography are primarily images of the natural world, and she has a line of greeting cards with her nature images as the main subject. Also, those nature images have become the subject of a slide presentation called "Praise God For His Beautiful Creations," that is shown at various church venues, and includes narration and background music.

When Darlene has an opportunity, she is happy to contribute her photography skills to charitable events around the county.
